Voluntray evacuations are in place along the beaches in the area.
Schools that were supposed to open to students for the first day of the new year on Monday are now closed and being reopened as shelters.
NASA officials today cancelled the moving of Shuttle Atlantis today and Kennedy Space Center Complex is shut down to tourist, until Tropical Storm Fay passes.
Tropical Storm Fay update force winds, rain and rough surf are already moving into the Florida Keys.
Residents and business owners in Key West don’t plan on evacuating, but they are not taking any chances by boarding up windows and making necessary preparations.
Some of Florida’s hurricane veterans aren’t as concerned as Fay approaches.
“I went through Charley, and, you know, I ran from Charley and this only supposedly 70-mph winds,” one resident said.
Most of Cuba managed to escape the wrath of Tropical Storm Fay.
Tropical Storm Fay update now says Fay was responsible for as many as eight deaths in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
